Independent Monument
The monument was built in
1958 to celebrate the independence Cambodia gained from France
in 1953.
National Museum
The National Museum is located at the north side
of the Royal Palace. Designed in a graceful traditional architectural
form, the museum has a wealth collection of Khmer Art.
Tuol Sleng
Museum
The former high school was taken by Pol Pot's
security force and turned into a concentration camp. Known as
the Security Prison 21 (S-21), it was the largest prison for
torture and execution during the Khmer Rouge. The buildings have
been preserved as they were left when the Khmer Rouge was driven
out in 1979.
New Central Market and Tuol Tom Pong Market
This is the place to experience the energy of the city. In the
French-built central market, you can find textiles, jewelry,
clothing, fruits and local food stalls.

Phnom
The only hill in the city, the Wat Phnom has been the
religious center for the locals since 14th century. |
